As either a buyer or seller, you must be registered with our site. To be a seller you will also need to open a Seller Account. That's it!
WHAT IS SOLD HERE?
The auction is devoted to precision scale model replicas, as well as related items that would interest collectors in this hobby.
THE AUCTION RATING SYSTEM
Buyers and sellers can rate their experience for each transaction, creating a record that everyone can check. The link to the rating system appears in the email advising the parties of a successful sale. You can rate the transaction as Positive, Neutral or Negative. The participants are given 30 days from the close of the auction to rate each other. If you miss the deadline, simply contact the Auctioneer and provide the auction # and your desired rating and he will enter it for you. Should you misplace the rating link, you can Click Here.
HOW LONG IS AN AUCTION?
Sellers determine how long their auction runs — from 2 to 5 days. Auctions conclude at 11 pm Eastern Time, unless Auto-Extended.
An auction is automatically extended when a new high bid is received within five (5) minutes of closing. This helps sellers get higher prices because it gives all interested bidders an opportunity to respond to a last minute high bid. No matter how fast their internet connection is.
If the Seller has opted for the INSTANT WIN! feature, an auction concludes as soon as a bidder has met the target price of the Seller.
HOW DO I ADD A PHOTO?
As you submit your listing information, you will be asked if you want to post photography of your item. You can upload an image directly from your computer. Or if you have an image on a photo-hosting service, you can provide the URL (web address) of the photography.
If you do not have a photograph to post, but have used the Car Codes to identify your item, an image drawn from our database will automatically be inserted.
WHAT IS A RESERVE AUCTION?
Sellers may specify a minimum amount that the winning bid must equal or exceed. It's the lowest price at which a seller is willing to sell the item. Called the "reserve" price, the seller is reserving the right to sell the item only if the bidding reaches a specific price.
The reserve price is always hidden. However, you'll always know if you're bidding on a Reserve auction, because we show whether the reserve has been met on the item listing page — and again on the individual item page. When you see Reserve Met, this means the item will be sold to the winning bidder.
Why wouldn't a Seller just set his opening bid at the minimum he would want to sell the item? Most Sellers do. But if the Seller is unsure of what the market value of his item is, he may wish to set his opening bid low to find out. The Reserve feature allows him to do so, but if it turns out to be too low, he reserves the right not to sell at this unexpectedly low value.
WHAT IS THE INSTANT WIN! FEATURE?
Sellers may specify a target price that if met will lead to an immediate sale. When a buyer bids that price, the auction is concluded. Unlike a reserve price, this price is not hidden, but public.
So if the target price is $150, and you feel the item is still a bargain at $150, you may just want to bid that amount and win the auction. To use the Instant Win feature, you must be the first bidder and must enter the exact amount as your opening bid - do not enter an Auto Bid maximum.
On a standard auction the INSTANT WIN! option disappears with the first bid. So you must act fast to take advantage of this option before someone bids at least the seller's minimum opening bid. On a Reserve auction, the INSTANT WIN! option is not removed until a Buyer meets the reserve.
HOW DO I PLACE A BID?
Go to the MAIN AUCTION PAGE and select one of our four categories, or choose one from the View Items drop-down menu at the top of any page in the Auction section. Find an item that interests you and click on it. Bingo! You will see a description of the item, frequently a photo, and the seller's terms. You will also see up to five of the highest bids.
If you wish, you can record your bid, which must be a fixed increment above the previous high.
You can also choose to Auto-Bid (recommended). Auto-Bid lets you specify the maximum amount you are willing to pay for an item. The computer stores this information and will continue to bid for you, raising your bid by the minimum bid increment. If no one else bids higher, or has a higher Auto-Bid, then your bid will win at the lowest amount necessary.
CAN I CHANGE/RETRACT A BID?
Because auctions are open for at most 5 days, we are NOT able to accommodate changes or retractions. While this is a hobby for most visitors, some who participate on the Auction make their living by buying and selling collectible models. If we were to begin tampering with the basic premise of the Auction — that you have the means and the intention of buying the item at the amount you bid — we would lose credibility among these businesses.
If some unforeseen event in your life prevents you from carrying forth your original intention, it is still better to advise the auctioneer than to become a "fugitive" buyer.
I WAS THINKING ABOUT BIDDING ON AN ITEM AND IT DISAPPEARED, OR THE PRICE CHANGED
Prior to any bid being entered, sellers are permitted to make corrections to their listings or even to delete them. This is done for a variety of reasons, such as discovering the model is damaged, entering the incorrect car code and image, etc. This feature prevents buyers from bidding on items that are incorrectly listed.
WHY DIDN'T THE AUCTION CLOSE ON TIME?
Our Auction has a great feature called Auto-Extension. At 10:55 pm, Eastern Time, any new bid will automatically add five more minutes to the closing time of an item. During this five minute extension, any new bid will continue to move the closing time forward five more minutes. When no bid is recorded for five minutes, the item will close.
WHAT ARE THE BIDDING INCREMENTS?
A bid increment is the minimum amount you have to bid over the current high bid (or the minimum if no other bid has been placed.) They are set according to the opening minimum:

WHY DOESN'T MY BID SHOW UP?

LAST FIVE HIGHEST BIDS:
Otto had entered his first bid earlier at $177 with a $250 autobid maximum. Manual bids $200 with no autobid maximum, so his bid shows, but is immediately raised by Otto's autobid by $5, the minimum increment in this example. Manual again bids, this time for $210. Once again, Otto's autobid raises by $5. Next it appears that Otto has jumped his own bid up to $250 with no intervening bidder. Not so. Manual or someone else has now entered a single bid of $250. Since this was Otto's maximum, Otto wins the tie. We don't show the other bid, since it would be odd to show two bids of $250. But when you see this kind of bidding, this is the reason.
WHY DID THE RESERVE DISAPPEAR ON THE ITEM I BID ON?
Sellers are permitted to reduce or eliminate the reserve on a listing. Buyers should only bid the amount that they wish to spend, regardless of whether it meets the reserve. Then, if the reserve is reduced you may have a shot at winning.
WHY WAS A BID ACCEPTED BY LESS THAN THE REQUIRED INCREMENT?

Wait a minute, you say. The minimum raise is $5 - and here Manual only bid $1.00 more than Otto's autobid maximum of $250. Shouldn't he have had to bid $260? Nope — his bid is matched against the bid showing on the board which was $215.00.
WHAT DO I DO IF I WIN?
You will receive an email notifying you that you were the highest bidder. You are expected to get in touch with the seller within five days for settlement. It is up to you and the seller to work out mutually satisfactory details of payment and shipment, if not already specified in the seller's post.
WHY AM I BEING IMMEDIATELY OUTBID?
If you're immediately outbid, that's because another bidder is using the AutoBid feature. AutoBid lets you specify the maximum amount you are willing to pay for an item. The computer stores this information and will continue to bid for you, raising your bid by the minimum bid increment. If no one else bids higher, or has a higher Auto-Bid, then your bid will win at the lowest amount necessary.
WHY DID MY BID JUMP SO HIGH?
There may be one of two reasons.
First, you may be bidding in a Reserve price auction. If your maximum bid either equals or exceeds the Reserve price, then Auto-Bid will jump your bid to the reserve price.
Or, another bidder has placed a higher maximum bid than you have set, and Auto-Bid will increase your bid up to your maximum.
WHAT IS AUTO-BIDDING?
AutoBid lets you specify the maximum amount you are willing to pay for an item. The computer stores this information and will continue to bid for you, raising your bid by the minimum bid increment. If no one else bids higher, or has a higher Auto-Bid, then your bid will win at the lowest amount necessary.
HOW DO I BECOME A SELLER?
It's easy. Just open a SELLER ACCOUNT. Then you will be permitted to post items for auction, using the email address and password you received when you registered with the site.
HOW DO I DESCRIBE THE CONDITION OF MY MODEL?
New in Box= Unopened in sealed original box.
Mint In Box = A model is considered to be in Mint condition when there are no broken or missing pieces, paint blemishes, fading, poorly functioning operating features, misaligned parts, extraneous glue marks from poor assembly or signs of owner neglect, such as significant dust accumulation or tobacco stains/odor. Unless a replica is closely inspected for fit and finish when it is received, even a brand new issue may not be in Mint condition. All paperwork, box and packing material originally included when New in Box should be present in good condition. Displaying the model does not automatically preclude it from being considered an MIB model.
Excellent= A model is considered to be in Excellent condition when minor imperfections exist that require only mild remediation to restore the model to Mint condition, such as cleaning mild dust buildup, or buffing paint surfaces. Missing paperwork or significant packing material would also place a model otherwise in Mint condition in this category.
Good= A model is considered to be in Good condition when moderate effort is required to restore the model to Mint condition, such as cleaning heavier dust buildup, removing mild scratches, fixing poorly functioning operating features, or re-gluing present but unbroken parts.
Poor= A model is considered to be in Poor condition when major effort is required to restore the model to Mint condition such as removing deep scratches, repairing or replacing broken or lost pieces, or full disassembly of the model to repair major build flaws. This is what also may be referred to as a Parts car, serving as a source of spare parts or a starting point for a major rework.
GETTING BETTER SALES RESULTS
In order to avoid overloading the auction site with multiple re-listings at unrealistic prices, the auction administrators will track the successful sales ratios and counsel those with poor results on how to realistically achieve success. Should a seller continue to re-list without sales, he or she can be denied access to the auction.
HOW DO I LIST AN ITEM?
Models should be listed in the auction whose scale is closest to your item. Collections and non-models (books, etc.) should be listed in the Collections & Automobilia auction.
Once you select the page, use the Post Items dropdown menu up at the top of any Auction section page to select a scale, or select a scale from the Sell Your Items portion of our MAIN AUCTION PAGE ... it helps you compose your item post. You`ll want to think about the minimum you'll accept, what condition the model is in, and how you want to be paid.
Car Codes refers to the number we use on our famous Car Lists and Reviews section to identify each listed model. A pop-up window allows you to browse the list for the model you're auctioning. This is a real advantage. Not only does it save you time, but also avoids the possibility of mis-stating what you're trying to sell. Do not fill out Name of Model until you've checked to see that it's not listed on the Car Lists.
Reserve means the minimum amount you will accept for this item. Do you want to SELL AN ITEM now?
Instant Win means the price you are willing to accept if it is bid before anyone bids a lower amount or, if you have a reserve, before anyone bids the reserve amount.
WHAT METHODS OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED?
Sellers can choose which methods of payment they are willing to accept from the following options: Paypal, Visa/Mastercard, American Express, C.O.D., Personal Check, or Money Order/Cashier's Check. Arrangements are made between the seller and buyer, so if there is another method of payment a seller is willing to accept, then he may inform the buyer upon the closing of the auction.
CAN I MAKE CHANGES IN MY AUCTION LISTING?
Prior to any bid being made, you can delete an item entirely, change the item entirely - generally this would be to correct the code and thus get new description and image, change any element of the item - opening bid amount, instant win amount, reserve, description, or the end date (but not beyond original 5 days). Once someone has bid, no changes are permitted except to reduce the reserve. To make these changes, at the bottom of each individual listing page there is now a link called "Seller Services: Revise Item." Just click there. Only sellers can use this link.

We charge Sellers a commission fee based on the amount of the winning bid. There is no charge if an item fails to sell. Buyers get to use this service for free.

HOW DO I PAY?
When you create a Seller Account, you let us offer you the convenience of paying with a credit card. We charge your credit card automatically upon successful closing of each auction. If for some reason your credit card on file is unable to be charged, you will not be able to post any new auctions until you have updated the credit card information in your profile and any outstanding commissions have been collected. If a buyer reneges, contact our Auctioneer Jay Olins via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org to receive a full refund on your commission charge.
If your item fails to sell, there is no charge. Sellers are charged only when their item sells.

WHY WAS MY ENTRY REJECTED?
Your submission will be rejected if you have not opened a SELLER ACCOUNT. Registering on the site is not the same. To open a Seller Account... CLICK HERE
Your submission may also be rejected if your Seller Account has been disabled because of recurring problems associated with your transactions.
WHY DID MY ITEM LOSE ITS INSTANT WIN! STATUS W/O A BID AT MY INSTANT WIN PRICE?
As soon as a Buyer places a first bid, the INSTANT WIN! option is retracted. If it's a Reserve auction, the INSTANT WIN! option is retracted when a Buyer meets your reserve, but not until then.
CAN I RELIST MY UNSOLD ITEM?
Yes you can. We used to ask you to wait four days before reposting an item to give other sellers with the same item a chance to sell theirs, preventing duplicate items from being auctioned simultaneously, but we've relaxed that rule, and now you can relist immediately after your auction has ended.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN AN AUCTION CLOSES?
At the conclusion of the auction, you will be sent an email identifying the winning bidder. The winning bidder receives an email identifying him or her as the winner. Our auction is based on a five (5) day settlement period, during which you and the buyer should make your own, mutually satisfactory arrangements for payment and delivery. If by Day 8, we are told nothing to the contrary, we assume a satisfactory conclusion to the auction of your item.
I CAN'T GET HOLD OF THE WINNING BIDDER!!!
If after 5 days of the auction's close, you have been unable to contact the winning bidder, you should follow this procedure. It's important to follow this procedure, to preserve any right you may have to a refund or credit of a seller`s commission. Unlike other auctions, we will try at least limited intervention to assist you.
Step 1: Try like the dickens to get hold of the buyer. Just because you can't get hold of them right away does not mean they're trying to renege. Like you, they're leading real lives and something may have come up. Still five (5) days should be enough for settlement.
Step 2: You notify our auctioneer within the next three (3) days that you have a "fugitive" bidder, providing the item number for the affected auction and the identity of the winning bidder.
Step 3: Our auctioneer will attempt to contact the winning bidder to determine the problem. If he fails to do so, the auctioneer will inquire whether the next higher bidder is interested in consummating the sale at their highest bid. This will, of course, be lower than the previous high bid.
Step 4: If the next higher bidder shows no interest, then your item is recorded as a no sale. You will be notified by email. At that point, you may relist your item, following the normal process of posting.
At this point, your account will be credited the amount of your original seller commission.

REFUNDS & CREDITS
We will provide credit for the amount of a sellers commission under certain circumstances. Credit may be warranted if the following occurs, and you have followed our procedures to cure the situation.

- Fugitive Bidder: You are unable to contact the winning bidder within five (5) days after the close of the auction. See I CAN'T GET HOLD OF THE WINNING BIDDER! Make sure you follow our procedure before applying for a credit.
- Buyer Returns: Buyer returns an item to you for a full refund.
- Buyer Performance: Buyer fails to meet the terms specified in your post.
We must receive this form no later than 30 days after the end of the auction in question. We are unable to process credits after the 30 day period.
