... reliability or a warning that will very specifically alert you to the problem. There isn't an oil dip stick because the car will not burn enough oil prior to the next scheduled maintenance. Don't forget that it does run on synthetic oil and is a far superior lubricant to the old multi-grade non-synthetic oils. I also think that German cars costing more to repair is now a myth. Most people are not comparing apples to apples when they make that statement. A high performance double overhead cam engine requiring maintenance is going to cost the same regardless of country origin. But if you're comparing an overhead 4 banger to a sophisticated DOHC high performance engine with variable valve timing, the 4 banger will cost less. An electronic or computer glitch is going to require the same diagnostic analysis and replacement costs are going to be generally the same. The only difference there is the complexity of the component.
