Phil, as far as someone recording continuously and catching an event like this....
if it is real, can be done easily. I have a "driver-cam" installed in my T&C van that my teen grandson drives. The camera runs continuously(endless loop) and will save 15 seconds before AND after an event (panic stop, swerving, hard cornering, accident, etc.). The saved recording is then uploaded via cell phone technology to a monitoring service and then I can replay and review the recording with my grandson. The recorder can also be triggered manually if something significant happens that is not involving my car. This particular camera records forward and reverse (interior wide angle) images and uses infared lamps to record the interior at night. It also has interior audio...... VERY interesting system.... NO, I cannot monitor the camera at any time and I only see "events" that are recorded. It has enlightened my grandson on defensive and safe driving techniques..... This system is provided by my auto insurance company for one year at no cost AND they DO NOT have access to the recordings, only myself and my grandson and he cannot erase any recordings. Only I can do that.
