Great question, Marlowe and here's my answer
I have the beginnings of my third collection.

To date, I have collected and sold around 10,000 model cars, in all scales and from a huge cross section of manufacturers. From the late 60’s, I have always kept and stored each model’s box and documentation and this is something I will always conform to.

The difference with this new third collection is that I will be far more selective. I have also succumbed to resin cast 1:18 and 1:12 curbside models. I particularly like MR and OttOmobile’s offerings. I’m a huge fan of Jim Clark and Lotus. My second collection had, at that time, every 1:43 SMTS’ Clark car that they had made. This time around, I have opted to collect the Spark versions that reflect, far better, the delicacy and design beauty of the 1:1 originals. So far, I have a complete set!

What is available now, could not have been imagined, as recently as twenty years ago, far less, nearly 60 years ago when the addiction first enveloped me as a small boy. I’m a devotee of CMC, AUTOart, BBR and MR, as I’ve already said, Kyosho and some Minichamps. As far as American models are concerned, I like GMP, Lane (both of which are available on the secondary market) and Highway 61.

Let’s rejoice on how far the overall model industry has come and be very grateful for the plethora of model cars that are available.
