Profitability?
When i go into Wal Mart, I see shelves of Ertl 1:18 for $19.95 ($9.95 for 1:24!) ..and although not 'Mint' quality in terms of QC or detail, they're still pretty nice. So, if you do the typical retail mark up, Wally's cost is about $10 ($5 for 1:24), which means these cost about $2.50-$5.00 each to produce. Factor in economy of scale, but to answer your question George, yes, these things can be made at a profit..depending on external factors such as manufacturing costs, expected demand, ease of distribution and sale, and of course, that really big one, ego.
