You're joking, right? To say a Ford compares to a M-B is just unfathomable.
We're on our third E-Class and no way does any Ford come close to matching the quality of the car. That includes Lincoln too. I should also mention that my assessment is coming from a diehard Ford guy. Aside from the standard visuals of top shelve components, build quality of paint, fit, finish, harshness, etc., M-B does a lot of little things very well and vastly superior to Ford. For example, some of the safety features that is designed into the car, Ford doesn't do. The roof structure is very close to acting very much like a race car quality safety roll cage. M-B builds extra strength into the seat backs so that in a rear collision, the seats don't buckle rearward. The Mercedes has seat belt tensioners that tighten automatically when the car senses an impending accident. These are just a few examples of a myriad of "little things" and attention to detail never found in a Ford product. Fords are also primarily front wheel drive and no way can match the road handling and agility of a rear wheel drive with 4 wheel independent suspension. I've never experienced any quality problems with my M-B cars and the only money I've ever spent on them is for routine maintenance. In terms of them being "ugly" that is a subjective assessment and to each his own. Personally, I like the design of M-B cars and Fords. Sorry, Ford vs M-B? Not even close.
