That's one explanation Robert. But there is another explanation too.
That being that the owner take just a little time to figure it out. All he knows is that he has an old car, but he doesn't really pay attention to how it looked in the day. I remember back in the early 2000's when was watching the Johnny Cash movie, "Walk the Line", and all of the cars in the movie that was supposed to be taking place in the early to mid 50's, didn't have correct white wall tires on them. A glaring error!!! All the producers wanted were cars from the era, but none of them took the time to check out whether the tires on the cars were period correct. And do you know what makes that error even more wrong? If it really had been 1955 (or earlier), there would have been no way for those cars to have thin white wall tires, because in that year, thin white wall tires were not available until 1962. Oh well...it isn't the cars fault the owner is a dutz. :)
