I actually DO agree now that these are nicer looking then the 69-70!
These were mechanically better cars too! I recall reading about a blind folded test and the Marquis was rated a better and quieter riding car then a ROLLS ROYCE of this era by the majority of the riders taking the test! If THAT isnt a testament to its' quality I don't know what is??? As for a comparison to GM cars I dont see how they held a candle to these Marquis? These cars were far better made and with better quality componets and materials then its GM rivalrys! A tighter and better put together body, better electrical systems etc. Find a 71 Marquis now and compare it to a 71 Cadillac, Olds 98, Bonneville, Caprice etc in equal condition with the same options. I will BET that the Marquis has a tighter and quieter ride and that all or the majority of the options in the Marquis WORK were they don't in the GM equivilents! I've own GM cars from this vintage and FORDS from this era and the FoMoCo cars have far superior electrical systems and are overall a better made car. WHere Ford uses 5 screws, 3 clips and a bed of glue, a similar GM car will had 2 screws and 1 clip and no glue! You'd have to have worked on these cars to know what I am talking about. Talk apart a 1970 Mark III and then talk apart a 1970 Eldorado and you will IMMEDIATELY see what I am talking about!
