Phil, interesting comments and perspectives, and I will grant you that
FoMoCo was probably doing a better job with body construction during those years. I do think that the GM cars were mechanically excellent, but am not knowledgeable enough regarding the big Ford products to know how they really compared.Regarding your example of the 1970 Eldorado vs. 1970 Continental Mark III, I have no doubt that you are correct, but will also make the point that Cadillac's high price did not necessarily guarantee that it represented GM's finest assembly quality. I am not alone in holding this view, particularly regarding the era in question.
