pic...and a story...It was 1990 and my Mac Tools Rep
stopped in the shop and announced he had tickets for the Indy 500. It was January and I was thinking it was a little early. He explained Mac Tools was sponsoring an Indy car and who was involved. When he said Steve Horn, a man who worked with Jim Truman and Bobby Rahal was involved and designing an American chassie I told him we had met and I would love to go. Then he told me about a program where a person could sponsor the car, your name would be on the pod cover, tickets to qualifing day and race day with great seats and hospitality tent I was curiuos. Then he said you get a hat too! Only 100 of these sponsorships were being sold, I won't mention the cost. I got this plaque... this is a model I made of the car This was the second greatest experience I ever had at Indy. Still have a pit pass pin and of coarse the hat. I was with my dad in A.J. Foyt's pit in 1967, also a great memory and thanks to Carousel 1 I have that model but the Buick powered cars never had a diecast replica, sooooo...........
Thanks to MPC for the Roberto Gararro Quaker State pole setter model, and a gentleman in Tennesse for the decal kit. My wife and I had a great time, and memories to last a lifetime.
