When I bought my 63 Thunderbird in 1990, it was sitting in my garage
when a ten year old neighbor boy came over to look at it. I opened the rider's side door and asked if he wanted to sit in it. I climbed in the driver's side. While he was studying the dashboard I swung the steering wheel to the right and you should have seen the look on his face. Kiddingly I told him that this was a special feature that allowed the passenger to drive if the driver got sleepy. He was really impressed until I told him the truth. Everyday I learn more and more that what I grew up with and take for granted is totally unknown by younger folks. With each passing year more of our automotive history is lost to generations who think of cars as just appliances.
