Charlie, anyone can ask a price. The question is, are people buying them?
The auction on this site is seen by a limited number of people, most of whom have fairly substantial collections. Since many of the viewers aleady have the cars listed here, most of them don't sell, in fact don't even get a bid.

Now that GMP, TFM, WCPD have gone out of business it has been up to DM to keep the hobby alive. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond their control their business is on hold.

This, IMO, has caused many collectors to re-think their collections. Some have decided to either change scales or get out of the hobby altogether. The result is that there has been a large influx of die cast models for sale. You can verify that just by looking at the auction site here.

So, prices are actually down - not up. Great time to fill some holes. Awful time to be selling cars.
