Message: They're neat ! But wouldn't it be great if........... They allowed any manufacturer to make the chassis (with some basic rules like aerodynamics and max envelope), engines and tires. Then we'd see cars that weren't "cookie cutter" versions of each other and we'd possibly be able to tell the different cars from each other even if they were still in primer. I know that supposedly the spec series were done to keep costs down and the particular racing series alive, but the days before the Indy series went spec were a lot more interesting for me. The ultimate example of this might be the CanAm that a lot of us think was the best racing ever.
