Ettore Bugatti by Le Mans Miniatues
I'm not a big figure guy. I now have three: Tommy Ivo, Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick and Ettore Bugatti. Bugatti got dropped off today and this was a nice surprise. Most of the figures I've seen, particularly in the under-$50 range, don't look much like the person they're supposed to represent. When you get into the $350-650 range the figures are better, but, in some cases, not much. Now there's Le Mans Miniatures and they're putting out some beautiful pieces where you can actually recognize the individual. And they sell for about $30. They've got Alfred Neubauer from Mercedes-Benz, Jacky Ickx, Dr. Ullrich from Audi, a running-start driver from '50's Le Mans, John Wyer from the Gulf-sponsored Le Mans racers and a number of generic pit figures. It appears that more will be introduced. Here's Ettore Bugatti holding his bowler hat standing next to his Bugatti 35 and I'm really pleased at how nicely they've done.
