I hate to say it but not enough people care
As an example, Automobile Year put out books for 3 years in a row, attempting to list every model made that year by every manufacturer. It failed after 3 years, and this was back in the mid-1980s, at the peak of production of hand mades. At least 1/2 of the people I remember from 25 years ago have passed on, or simply sold off their collections, and these people have not been replaced by a younger crowd.
In the mid-1980s I made a list of every producer of hand mades and kits that I was aware of..it amounted to more than 500 companies...and there were some that were so obscure I was unaware of them. 90% or more are long gone.
Sad, but in my opinion, but there and too few collectors to keep this hobby going except for us die-hards, who will never give up, even though many of us can't afford anywhere near as much stuff as we once purchased.
I think that the fact that there are only about 25 "regular" posters on this board tends to validate my opinon.
