In 1983 my company car choices boiled down to....
Ford Fairmont, Dodge Omni, some Plymouth, etc. - all junk.I opted out of the program, had my company pay me mileage, bought a new black Rabbit GTI with the wide rims and Pirelli P6 tires, 5-speed, sunroof, and bitchin' stereo. Drove it about 8-9 years, put over 120K miles on, still had the original clutch and still ran great when I sold it. It was made in Pennsylvannia. Detroit just blew it in the '80's.And that first year I discovered the Section 179 depreciation deduction and smiled all the way to the bank after I did my taxes.
