One or two questions there!
This particular car, B132HK, was one of three made and they are correctly known by Barker as Curvilinear Coupes although this title does not appear on any formal descriptions. All differed in detail making each one unique. B132HK was Barker's show car at the 1936 London Motor Show and the striking yellow finish with chrome wheeltrims and tan leather interior caused a great deal of interest. However, it was not until February 1937 that the car found a buyer. Henry Talbot de Vere Clifton, a young millionaire who had inherited estates at Lytham St Annes and Blackpool on the untimely death of his father, set about squandering his fortune with a great deal of enthusiasm. He had the car shipped to New York where his fiancee was living. Clifton became a protege of Armand Hammer. A year later, Clifton, wife and car were back in Lytham St Annes. In the summer of 1938, after the late arrival of his train from Preston, in a fit of rage he ordered his chauffeur to drive the car headlong into a wooden five bar gate at Lytham Hall. This caused a considerable amount of front end damage. The car was repaired and sold on through Liverpool dealers. In later years the car was repainted maroon over black which is how it usually appears in various books. The current owner is having the car restored in its original yellow colour scheme and he is also co-owner of the fabulous book Bentley Beauty which is part of Brooklin's library and which I currently have precariously balanced on my lap whilst writing this! Why has this car been modelled? Each year. Bentley Motors have an input into the Derby Bentley to be chosen and the company asked for this one. It has been late in arriving because the car was not sufficiently complete for measuring and photographing last year.
As was the case with Lansdowne's recent Bedford Loud Speaker Van, this model will have an information sheet in the box.
