Marlowe, I was in the Army in the late 60s, during the Viet Nam war.
Although I was in a D-1 unit (high alert and duffel bag packed at all times) and my unit had orders 5 times to ship to Nam - each time we waited for the Deuce-and-a-half to pick us up at our barracks and the transport truck passed right by us. Each time our orders were canceled. I never went to Viet Nam. I did endure hardships, but nothing like the visible scars carried now by soldiers who were wounded and lost their lives at the battle at Ong Thanh. The purpose of my sending out that video clip wasn't to bring attention to me, but to every soldier (men & women) who did serve during that era. These days no one asks what a soldier does. They receive praise merely when seen in uniform. During the Viet Nam war every soldier was looked down upon.By the way, even the U. S. Government lied about the battle at On Thahn and claimed it was a victory, when in fact our soldiers got totally wiped out. That's the message that I wish to forefront. Frank
