AutoArt 1:43 Mad Max 2 The Road Warrior-Interceptor/Enemy Car "Twin Model Set" SpecialVersion

What do you know, just in time for Valentine's Day, Rich reviews a his and hers diecast set. Okay, maybe their both just his.
Review by Rich Sufficool

Overview

In the opening scene of Mad Max 2 (AKA the Road Warriors) set in a post-apocalyptic Australian Outback, The hero, Max Rockatansky, driving the "last of the V8 Interceptors, is being pursued by the Mohawked psycho, Wez, on a Kawasaki Z-1 and two of his henchmen driving a black tricked out coupe. AUTOart has modeled the two cars in 1/43 scale as a "Twin Model Set" complete with base and dust cover which is a great display option, but the dust cover top surface is exposed by the open top box and like my example, will likely be scuffed from stacking and transporting.

The V8 Interceptor is a 1973 Australian Falcon XB supercharged 351 V8 modified for use in the stark outback where gasoline is the most precious commodity. The rear hatch has been replaced with two massive fuel tanks behind a wire basket storage bin. The nose has only the top section of the aerodynamic Concorde front end option. A huge 6.71 blower protrudes from the hood. The stripped down interior has a door mounted seat for "Dog". There's a machete on the driver's door along with ammo pouches. A self-destruct booby trap is attached to the undercarriage. The front wheels are Sunraysia and the rears are turbine styled and all are shod in B F Goodrich T/A Radials. Virtually every visible detail in this curbside model has been crafted. There's a bag of accessories for this model including a spare, a length of chain, two jerrycans and a case of DinkiDi Dog Food with two extra cans.

The "Enemy Car" is a 1973 Ford Landau which was a personal luxury car built on the same chassis as the Falcon XB. It contained the same standard luxury features as the larger wheelbased Ford LTD sedan including popup headlamps, special grill and lots of faux wood trim in the interor. The road warrior car has been converted to a dually with the outboard wheels protected by steel cage. The front Chromed skulls decorated the hood, C-Pillars, deck fascia and shift nob. The interior has a roll cage and the engine? Well, you figure out what all that external plumbing actually does... the Landau did come with a 351 V8 as standard. The skull ornaments and 3-D Landau scripts are microscopic and perfectly modeled and placed, sealed with a clear coat. The Landau is fully glazed and even sports delicate rear window deicer grids.

Legacy Motors is proudly stocking this 1:43 set by AUTOart: Mad Max 2 Interceptor + Enemy Car Twin Set!
