AutoArt 1:18 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup VIP 2007

Rich has found the perfect diecast for VIP's who love Diecast Zone.
Review by Rich Sufficool

Overview

This is a Porsche dealer exclusive by AUTOart that fortunately our own Legacy Motors has in stock. Well, it's fortunate for me anyway. The nearest Porsche dealer to me is about 15mi in the opposite direction from my daily commuting route and the parts department which sells their dealer exclusive diecasts is only open 5 days with banker's hours.

This model is a replica of the 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup VIP presentation car that's set up for the very popular Supercup series where any well-heeled Porsche owner can race their Porsche in world class competition that is organized with and heavily sponsored by both Michelin and Mobil 1. This black beauty serves as the primary "guest driver" car for the series.

The car itself car is the work of Porsche Design which explains why it has "PD" plastered all over it without having a lightbar on the roof. It sports a gorgeous matte black finish with pale gold and white accents and livery. I love the 14 spoke gold-centered BBS wheels with chromed rims. Even the spartan interior of this dedicated car has some very nice design touches that include custom door panels.

Overall, the model is classic AUTOart in build quality and content. Crystal clear glazing allows great visibilty as well as a realistic appearance. All panels are operational on proper hinges with perfectly aligned action that results in tight even shutlines. The matte black finish is perfect yet lacks the fragility of sheen that generally makes handling like painted models rather risky. As with most 911 variants, the engine is barely visibble when simply opning the trunk so if there's any particular area that lacks detail and texture on this model, you'll find it there if you look hard enough.

If you have a feeling that you'll never make Porsche's VIP list to get a crack at driving the 1:1, then this little beauty is as close as you can get.
