The colour of this one is actually slightly darker then in the pictures, not burgundy but one step in that direction from the brighter red shown in pictures.I think that looks soo much better on the car. This is truly one of DM´s best a real looker and definitely something you´ll want in your collection! 2. If you thought that Danbury Mint did an incredible job on the 1957 Chrysler 300C convertible, my friends wait till you see the 1958 Chrysler 300D Sport Coupe. I just received mine and it is gorgeous! The fit and finish is absolutely fantastic! The doors have miniture hinge that replicate the real hinge. There is also a spring loaded catch on the door that fits into a tiny hole on the striker plate, and when you close the door you can hear AND feel the door close like on the real car. The hinges on the hood are very realistic as well. The detail on the interior is wonderful, and of course there is real leather on the seats. This is a marvelous model, simply marvelous!!!! Bravo, Danbury Mint, Bravo!!!!!!! 3. Milan Germaine 6/2/02
The latest release from Danbury Mint is in a single word, excellent. The model arrived with flawless paint, a very nice maroon color. The operating features include doors with realistic hinges that close with a "click" , very detailed engine compartment with all the plumbing and very realistic hood hinges, working suspension system, opening fuel door, the antenna raises and lowers and the opening trunk has a removeable spare tire. The interior is very impressive, it looks almost real. The leather two-tone seats are very well done. The sun visors fold up and down, the front seats even fold forward, and even the headliner is finished and detailed with interior lights. It looks great next to their other models, such as the '56 Desoto, '58 Fury, and '57 Chrysler 300C. This is a beautiful model of a great automobile from the master model builders, the Danbury Mint. I hope that Danbury will do a 1955 Chrysler C300 and a 1959 Chrysler Imperial in the near future. 4. Jay Engel 6/9/02
Not much more to add to what's already been said about this latest delight from DM. No new ground broken here as far as tech is concerned...just a meticulously crafted, well made replica of an incredibly handsome Chrysler. Gr This one has received many tiny enhancements that seem to dim the star that is the 300C Convertible. It's interesting to note this car replicates wind-up windows instead of the "proper" power windows on the convertible. That shoudda been "fudged" as the deletion makes the car a "strippy"; the 300D IS ANYTHING BUT!!! 5. Gene Mills 2/12/03
If you love collecting DM/FM cars, you will simply love this one, not much more can be said than whats' already been covered here, D.M. goes way above, and beyond the call of duty on their diecasts, and that's what the serious collector is looking for, they cover the most minute details, well D.M. it shows, two thumbs up, and keep 'em coming, lets see an Imperial, mid to late 50s to show with the big '59 Caddy!!! 6. Just want to echo everything that has been said about the DM '58 Chrysler 300D. One of DM's sharpest, with quality control beyond question. I am not going to mention all the finer points, and exquisite details, since my collector colleagues have already done a fine job with their evaluations. It is so ironic though that the Chryslers of 1957 and 1958 were known to be poorly made and soon-to-be rust buckets (in the snow belt)in their day. Danbury has provided an historical reprieve, and offered quality in their 1:24 scale that Chrysler couldn't come close to matching with their original 1:1s. A must for every serious collector. 7. Simply outstanding says it all. Engine detail is breathtaking, I wanted to get the wrenches out and start tinkering under the hood the detail is beyond imagination. Interior detail is just as good I remember it well and it looked good to me from my memory of a day long since gone. Fit and finish is breathtaking, the DM got their act together big time with their last few releases this model exemplifies what a diecast model should be. My hat is off to the Danbury Mint on a job well done. If you want to add your Collector Review, CLICK HERE. |
