I'll give this one 3***.  At an earlier time in my collecting life, I would have given it a four star effort due mainly to the very attractive color combination.  I believe Chevy carried over this combination for a least one more year.  However the lack of detail compared to today's models is readily apparent, especially in the engine compartment.  I wish, too, that fm would have left off the fender skirts.  I have seen MANY '55-'57 Chevy's, and have seldom come across fender skirts on them let alone continental kits.  While I love this color combo, I must say that this image might have started tfm on the road to it's present marketing scheme of endless repaints and price hikes and getting scores of people to buy it with the lure of getting a "Limited Edition".

For a Franklin Mint replica this '56 is 4 stars.  If it were Danbury Mint, it would be 2, maybe 3 stars at best.  DM is so ahead of FM, and has been from the beginning, it really isn't fair to compare side by side...as it's like comparing apples to oranges.  As proof to my statement, check out the DM 56 Chevy's issues last year both in hardtop (red & white) and convertible (turquoise & white)...they are stunning!!!  A previous reviewer mentioned that this FM's version is "old tooling".  Well, even in the beginning of die-casts, DM was far and wide the leader.  All of the above stated, this FM Chevy (and the previous Green/White and recent Dark Blue/Light Blue versions) are nice cars.  They look very nice in my collection, and if you are a Chevy lover, than seek these out.

This is one of my favorites in my collection. Sure, it doesn't have all the latest diecast features. As a matter of fact, the decal emblems are a cheap feature (and mounted too high on the hood). But, I love '56 Chevys, Adobe Beige and Bronze was the prettiest color combo, and there's no hanging continental kit out back. If you can find one, I think it's a must have!

I just got this '56 from auction. I was impressed with the exterior, and, 4 a change, FM's rendition of the interior. I'm no interior/detail fan of FM, when I compare the DM efforts. This, though, is in the better category. Under hood's not too exciting, though. I wish DM didn't lile blue/turquoise so much in the '55-'60 era. That's mainly why I picked up this one for my collection of these year Chevies, and, I'm happy I did, even though DM has a new '56 convertible...in that blue hue, again....may not be as good, but, variety is the spice of life, and, it's good 'nuff 4 me, especially, at the used car price!!
