Sitting on my table is the DM '69 Dodge Charger R/T. A little badge on the leading edge of each door lets you know what lurks beneath the hood, it reads HEMI. Under the accurately hinged hood the awesome, orange-colored, 426 Hemi Head fills the engine bay. Eight individual wires (not a cluster) run from the brown distributor cap to their respective recessed ports in the black valve covers. The Hemi shows good plumbing detail as well as both battery cables, one to the block, the other to the starter. A huge chrome air cleaner and oil filler cap dress the bay up nicely.
The interior is beautifully done, with details such as black bucket seats, seat belts, power window switches, a 4-speed shifter with a wood knob, fully gauged dashboard, and wood-trimmed console.
The yellow body exhibits the usual flawless finish and tight gaps that are a DM hallmark. Some of the nice touches are the turn signal lenses in the hood scoops, working antenna and gas cap, a bold black stripe wrapping around the trunk with the R/T logos and tight fitting chrome trim around the wheel wheels. Red line tires surround the Magnum wheels. The split grille features operating headlight doors that are a gem in themselves. A handy tool is provided to ease their operation and they line up perfectly with the rest of the grille. Trunk detail is also complete with the patterned mats, removeable spare, jack and the fuel filler pipe. Wide
taillights set within the concave rear panel and rectangular exhaust tips bring up the rear. Of course the chassis detailing is complete and the suspension works. My personal rating for this DM triumph is 5-stars. At $109.00 + S&H, DM has another winner. (09/30/1999)
