Based on the Danbury Mint's 1972 Chevy Cheyenne pickup, the Buffalo Bills' truck is resplendent in blue and white with red trim. Bills' logos are everywhere: a large decal with the word "Bills" covers the hood; the sides, and even the license plate, sport the running buffalo. There is a Buffalo Bills' pennant attached to the antenna, a red cloth spare tire cover, and decals on the sliding rear window. Two tiny red helmets, complete with stripes and running bison, hang from the rear view mirror. The truck comes with everything a fan needs to tailgate at the newly renovated and renamed Ralph C. Wilson stadium. There is a large Bills' flag, a team barbeque grill, a decorated director's chair, two coolers, a duffel bag, a bag of peanuts, two tiny coolers, and a miniature helmet and number 7, Doug Flutie jersey, complete with wire hanger. To complete the party mood, there is a tiny beer keg, presumably filled with an eyedropper full of Genesee beer. Missing are some 1:24 boxes of hot chicken wings from the Anchor Bar and some tiny roast beef on kimmelweck roll sandwiches, regional specialties. Only a purist would complain that the red helmets and running buffalo didn't come into being until 12 years after the truck was built. The truck itself is a beauty. The hood is accessed by pushing up on a well hidden button beneath the front bumper. Inside you will find a well detailed engine compartment complete with all hoses and spark plug wires. There is even an AC Delco decal on the air cleaner which reads, "Keep your truck all GM". Door gaps are very tight, although a trifle larger on the passenger's side. This truck has a smoothly working suspension and nicely detailed interior with seat belts, door locks and an accurate dash. My only quibble is that the column mounted three speed shift lever appears to be a bit oversized. The finely detailed tailgate hinges are a large plus. Bills' fans, unfamiliar with precision diecast, to whom I've shown this model have been astonished by the detail. Highly recommended. The issue price is $145 + S&H. (09/14/1999) (01/02/2000) |
