Danbury Mint 1:24 1949 Ford Lead Sled Custom

Danbury Mint 1:24 1949 Ford Lead Sled Custom diecast car

With the latest addition to their Rod and Custom series, DM presents us with a car very much like those actually built by guys back in the 50's. The '49 Ford lead sled is very believable, with some later Ford accents like the "movin' forward" skirts which look like the quarters from a '53 Ford, a raked windshield, the early Cadillac engine with lots of carburetion and a lot of chrome....very typical of the genre. The Carson top is a great style note. While some customs can look too busy, this one is more subtle with a '53 Ford grille bar, frenched headlights, and smoothed bumper. The '53 Buick rear center bumper section appears to be from DM's '53 Buick...and it works beautifully. The door panels are a carryover. This beauty incorporates some design details from a luxo-car of the era to really give the "shoebox" some class....just the way the better shops did it. The hubcaps are very smooth and plain, with only a Cadillac medalion in the center to give a hint of the power plant. The typical Ford spotlights are gone, and this custom has a very clean, with no gewgaws hung on it. The side trim apparently is modified from a '58 Chevy, by the way...with a strip of white, to tie in the color scheme. Be sure you notice the "HOP UP" decal in the windshield and the LOOK BUT PLEASE DON'T TOUCH placards in the trunk, and one on the windshield. Price is $104 + S&H.
