In 1959, Chevy decided to sharpen up its premier model - the Impala. They leaned out the body and reinvented the fins as horizontal wings. In 1960, they refined some of the styling elements and cleaned up the overall look of its controversial design. The Impala's power ranged from a six, two versions of the 283 small block, and various iterations of the big block 348, including a tri-carb, 280-hp "Super Turbo Thrust" stormer. It connected with the buyers of the day to the tune of 80, 000 convertibles sold! The issue price is $112 + S&H. (09/30/2000) DM's to be congratulated for doing a twice-released image from FM and pulling out the stops. No ballyhoo - just great features, that speak for themselves. The list includes: engine compartment details right down to scissor-style hood hinges, an air conditioner compressor and washer fluid bottle, interior details such as movable sun visors and an under-dash a/c console, a cloth top-up convertible top with top-down boot, tilting seatbacks, a full suspension, tilt-down rear gas filler door, removable spare tire and a rear deck-mounted antenna that mimics the telescoping 1:1 item. Top it off with a flawless paint job and sharp, correctly proportioned chrome parts and you have a winner. The '60 Impala stood at the dawn of the muscle car era. One would be hard pressed to think of a worthier avatar of that era. It's fitting that DM has done one of its patented "primo" renditions of this classic. The issue price is $112 + S&H.
