The model is a great replica of the Chrysler Corporation’s attempt to catch up with the fleetside styling offered by both GM and Ford. The model is very good right down to the rubber surrounds on all of the window openings which usually came on the trucks of this era. It looks like Chrysler crafted the rear section from the Dodge station wagon to the truck bed of a standard pickup. [Jay Olins adds: This is exactly what happened! Car parts were welded to truck frames in order to compete with the Cameo Carrier, etc.] Perhaps we can expect a 1957 Dodge Station wagon from Danbury? The engine compartment is complete right down to the spark plug wires on the Dodge wedge engine. At first I thought that the battery was missing but closer examination revealed that it was still stored under the truck as its box is on the driver's side next to the frame. The 1957 is a welcome addition to your collection and is very accurate. I drove a 1956 Dodge PU which had the same cab and dash board as the 1957 and the Danbury is correct as my memory recalls. The issue price is $112 + S&H. (07/29/1998) (07/29/1998) |
