Issued July 1993, this particular diecast does not boast plug wires or a working suspension. The antenna, while well done, does not retract. These details are generally associated with the more recent Mint offerings, so is this a 'must have' for the early '50's classic collector? Most definitely! The paint is smooth and even in Raven Black and Snowshoe White. Danbury's attention to details such as the dome light on the inside roof, removable spare tire and the inclusion of the jack are what endears this model to a collector. The chassis and undercarriage detail is excellent, the engine well crafted to proper dimensions. Its most attractive points are the valve stems on the wheels, the intricate script in perfect 1:24th scale, declaring 'Crown Victoria' on the doors, with the Ford insignia, 'Fairlane' proudly displayed on the hood and trunk. 'Overdrive' also appears on the trunk and V8 symbols on the front fenders. Deep embossing makes the fender skirts look genuinely removable. The grill must be seen in person to fully appreciate and the inside door handles and window cranks are a masterpiece of miniaturization. Above all else, what makes this model work so well, is its elegant stance. It is poised with all of the grace of the real classic. The issue price was $109 + S&H.
