Here was and is one of the greatest classic cars ever and it
made Jaguars' reputation in the United States. It could do 120 MPH right off the showroom floor. It had everything to offer including some of the sleekest lines of all the sports roadsters imports. This diecast was first introduced by DM several years ago and while a good looking model, lacked much of the correctness and detail of this new issue. The interior has been completely reconstructed with more realistic upholstery and floor mat. The dash now has a
molded instrument panel with authentic looking gauges in place of the former poorly decaled dash. (See insert). On the exterior of the body DM has added detail missing on the original issue such as the scribed air vents forward of the doors. Also included on this new issue are skirts. The paint is richer in color and depth and applied more evenly and the chrome detail is considerably improved.
One item lacking on the new model as well as the old is an
opening trunk. It is hard to understand why only an etched
trunk line was considered satisfactory. Still, this is a great classic and a great addition to your collection if you don't already have the original on your shelf. The issue price is $112 + S&H. (7/97)
