It's big (1:16 scale), it's beautiful and it's flawless. Danbury Mint spent in excess of $350,000 in creating the prototypes and dies for this model, and it shows. The level of detail abounds from the plush carpet, wonderfully grained leather on the roof and rumble seat to the well-detailed wiring and rubber fan belts in the engine bay. The paint is absolutely perfect and rivals the best finish I have ever seen on a 1:1 vehicle. The gold striping is impeccable. There are over 215 parts in the making of this car and each executed with total precision. The dashboard dials are remarkably authentic looking and the overall fit and finish of the production is astonishing, even considering its large size. It comes with a nice wooden display stand, with indentations for the tires to prevent model movement. The display cover, extra, is expensive. I believe I paid in excess of $60 for it, but it's worth the price to finish off the display with style. A truly commanding piece in any collection. The 12/96 reissue was unchanged from the previous release. The issue price is $199 + $8 S&H. (07/18/1998) (12/01/1998) |
