THIS MODEL WAS DISCONTINUED 12/31/02. Truly handsome in its near flawless black paintwork, this model features the usual huge array of operating parts. Nicely packaged, well detailed, but far from the best model DM has presented to date! The chrome trim around the tailgate area doesn't fit properly; in fact, part of it is so sharp that one could risk injury just by handling the model. This flaw is present on BOTH examples I have seen, so I presume that's the way it is on all. Additionally, the dual exhaust pipes are left "hanging" underneath the chassis without proper, and accurate attachments to the frame. Aside from that, the model displays the usual DM high degree of fidelity and essence in relation to the 1:1 scale vehicle. Chrome, though a little heavy in places, is tops and all the details DM is noted for are brought together in a most handsome package.

The maroon bucket seat interior is beautiful and features an opening glove box door; unlike other new DM releases, neither the visors nor the antenna are operable. Should you put one on your shelf? I don't think it's a "must have" simply because its execution is missing something. It's worth a look-see, though and it's available now for $118 + $6 S&H. (06/26/1998)
