Just received the DM 1/24 Good Humor ice cream truck today
and it sure brought back memories of the same full size trucks I use to see parked along side of the roads here in Connecticut when I was a kid. The detail on this truck is fantastic!! The two freezer doors open, one on the passenger side and one in the rear of the truck. The bells, no, they don't ring, but they do move when you pull the cord, and the suspension in the rear operates. The steering works, naturally; the hood opens to reveal a 6 cylinder engine with wiring and an unbelievable fuel line from the fuel pump to the carburetor, looking so real that you could swear it was the real thing. In the freezer compartment, if you shine a light in through the side door and look down in at an angle, you can see "wood" slats on the floor so the ice cream doesn't stick to the floor. The fit of the hood and body panels is great and the advertising and price signs bring the truck to the level of a superior model. . In my book, it's a fine, well-built truck that is sure to make a lot of people nostalgic. The issue price is $129 + S&H. (06/26/1998)
