Danbury Mint 1:24 1935 Ford Pickup- US Mail Contract Carrier diecast car

The 1935 Ford US Mail pickup truck is based on the previously issued Dearborn Blue 50-830 half-ton, as expected. The truck is dark green with black fenders, but is not done as a USPO vehicle (carries no PO livery). Rather, it represents a RFD contractor's private vehicle. US MAIL markings are done as placards which hang over the doors from leather straps over the open windows. Two magnetized "R.F.D. STOP" signs attach to the tailgate.

Cargo is a red toolbox, shovel, bag of mail, two brown and one white large parcels with postage and addresses. The sack-o-mail contains three small boxes (DM diecasts?), mail tray, filled with envelopes on passenger seat and postal hat beside it. A nifty feature of the model is snow chains on the rear tires! Removing the mail gizmos reverts the model to an attractive civilian vehicle, an interesting concept. But only the rear signs are removable with ease. I don't recommend doing this to the door signs which are glued in place. The issue price is $129 + $6 S&H. (11/13/97)
