The 4th in the ubiquitous and quite arresting "History of the BUDWEISER DELIVERY TRUCK" series has just now been released. The '33 International A-5 Stake Body is a handsome, somewhat "outdated" looking (for 1933), workhorse that really hammers "home" the rather accelerated metamorphosis of the American Medium Duty Hauler... Just get one and park it between the '31 Ford Sedan-Delivery and '38 GMC Stake (both Bud trucks) and the montage becomes boldly, and beguilingly evident! The International and the GMC are peculiar both in body style and marque to the BUDWEISER SERIES; they do not appear in any other salt, beer, milk, soup, etc. line. As a replica, on its own, the INTERNATIONAL can hold its own with the best of them! I'm amazed at the detail DM always seems to uncover and include in their products...especially the truck lines! This one is no exception! From the wooden stakes (complete with tiny chrome bolt heads) to the removable seat cushion (the battery and the gas tank are located underneath) and the opening windshield, this INTERNATIONAL A-5 reflects careful planning and assembly with DM's sometimes mind-blowing attention to detail. The model is colorful, accurate, tight, and a delight to the eye. The finish is smooth, glossy, very bold in true BUDWEISER format. (5/13/98) (06/29/1998) |
