When I opened the 53 Wrecker I was thrilled to find that some concerns that I had were unfounded. This is not a warmed over 3100, in fact it is not a 3100 at all, but its Big Brother 3800. This is a larger truck with a longer wheelbase and heavier chassis etc. The fit and finish are flawless on my example, I continue to marvel at how tight everything fits on releases from Danbury these days.

The cab on this truck is the five window version, the interior is all business and highly detailed. Under the hood the engine is fully plumed (no surprise). The real work of art is the Dual Tow Booms and how they function. If you're in a hurry to hook up one of your out-of-commission cars, DM provides a "quick hookup" cradle, but if you want to be realistic you get all the chains you need to make an accurate hook up. The toolbox on the rear is removable and holds the crank for the tow booms and the extra tow chains. A word of caution, read the directions before you unpack the booms If you love trucks this is a must have. I give this a five out of five stars. This will be a series, with three more to come, the next being a 46 Dodge Power Wagon. The issue price is $135 + $8 S&H. (07/18/1998)
