In a fit of madness, I ordered the Vallejo Cobra on Rally Day. I was ordering one for an overseas friend and I....uuh... ordered one for myself and proceeded to kick myself all the way home. Well, it came in the mail today so I figured I'd describe it for you all. It's the standard FM Cobra 427SC with a few modifications. There's a new flush hood (gone are the rivets and the air scoop}. The cooling intakes on either side of the grill are blocked with chromed inserts. The front and rear bumperette/jackpoints are chromed as are the side exhausts. The car is identical in quality of fit. and finish.

And now...the paint job. Well you'll all either love it or hate it...it's pretty much a turn-on for the Dungeons and Dragons set. What I find remarkable is the finish on this car...it is absolutely flawless. It is so perfect, it looks as though it's made of porcelain. The designs actually look like they were hand painted. I was expecting to pull out the magnifiers and see dot matrices, transfer film...something to give me a clue how it was done...it's perfect. Gripes? Two things were done for obvious expediency that spoil it a bit for me. The "427 Cobra" fender badges were painted over (either keep the badging as is, or remove them). The 4-vane front brake vents are filled in, but not completely, leaving telltale ripples in what as I stated before is a perfect, flawless finsh. Well, as I was told, this car was really done for the Fantasy collectors, so little things like that probably didn't seem important.

For most of you who could really care less about this car, I guess the good news is that with the modifications present on this car, it would certainly portend future repaints of both race and stock versions. The issue price is $105.
