AutoArt 1:43 Mazda MX-5 Tuned By Mazdaspeed (RHD)

AutoArt has created a 1:43 model of the third generation (2006-on) Mazda Mazdaspeed MX-5 as it was introduced at the 2005 SEMA show. Mazdaspeed is Mazda’s in-house tuning arm that develops factory-engineered tuner cars that have engineered performance that trumps the performance of their standard production vehicles. Although Mazda made available a Mazdaspeed version of the 2005 (second generation) MX-5 Miata, they have yet to release a production version for the third generation MX-5, so AutoArt’s little 1:43 MX-5 is hopefully a view into the MX-5’s future.

In this case this 1:43 model has an aggressive front facia, a lowered suspension, a revised rear facia, three-piece spoiler and larger exhaust tips. The car also rides on special 18 inch forged wheels. The interior sports a carbon-fiber dash insert. The engine modifications for this version have yet to be announced (I’m sure that whatever they will be, this car has them). Probably playing to the domestic Japanese market, this particular iteration is right-hand-drive.

AutoArt seems to always do a very nice job of whatever image they strive to replicate and this is no exception. The interior shows their attention-to-detail with its realistic leather seats, carbon-fiber dash, miniature gauges and tiny shifter. All the pieces that are on their 1:18 version of this car are here and faithfully executed. The one item that may be a little out-of-scale is the paint. The silver paint’s flakes would be quite large if scaled-up to full-size. But that’s a nit and this is one nicely executed model any MX-5 Miata fan should be pleased to own!
