The Lamborghini Diablo series line-up by AUTOart seems fresh from a high performance dream. No mere repaints of the same model here. We're offered a six-pack, including two each of the SV and VT coupes and open-air roadsters. Trim variations on the real beauties carry over onto the models. Roof trim, side air scoop and wheel treatments, all vary throughout the line. This specific iteration in black, veritably screams out the purpose for its existence - outrageous good looks and high speed capability. As we have come to expect from AUTOart, the paint is flawlessly applied and finished in smooth, shiny style accentuated by the bold SV designation in brilliant white. The painted lettering on the model in perfect scale is masterful in execution. This includes the Lamborghini logo and badging right down to the "SV" monogram on the wheels. Looking past these we find "Brembo" tattooed perfectly to the brake calipers. If you get out the magnifying glass to see it all, be sure to treat yourself to the timing order minutely printed on that massive V-12 mid engined monster. The detail in the interior is cleanly done and the floor and trunk interior treated to a textured velvet-like feel. I saved the best for last. Not only is the fit of the opening parts cause to celebrate but we now have operational door handles! Press the door handle button to swing the door high, snap it shut to close tightly. So precise are the alignments that they appear non-opening. AUTOart, another marvel of model craftsmanship! (03/21/2000)
