The Great Age of Diecast is alive and well at AUTOart. Here with the classic Jaguar C Type, they've combined an historic image, loads of details and flawless execution of manufacture. This is no mere replication of the early Jaguar; it is a re-creation of it. The C Type's racing heritage clearly stands out from the tubular chassis to the twin side exhausts. It is even more evident in the all business atmosphere of the cockpit. The gauges are among the best you will find in a diecast of nearly any price and the steering wheel wonderfully contrasts the dark exterior and black seats. Speaking of the exterior, the extraordinarily dark green paint is so absolutely perfect, you'll believe you are looking into a liquid mirror. The functions of opening parts include forward tilting bonnet, driver's door with a spring hinge; no dogleg affair here and an opening rear panel to gain access to the spare tire. The fit is now typical AUTOart - miniature consummation. The wheels too are a work of art. You will swear they are photoetched metal. The best is yet to come; open the rubberized bonnet straps. Enter the world of precision diecast. Delicate bracing, plug wires and hoses, fuel lines and exquisite engine detail. The paint accents and louvered vents, on the top and sides of the bonnet are even accurate. This image is timeless, especially in today's retro-styled steel. I'm surprised this beautiful British legend hasn't been done more often. But I am grateful that it was done by AUTOart. Their model was made with more than detail and fantastic paint. They breathed passion into its metal, plastic and rubber. It embodies the legend and mystique of the C Type. (04/14/2000)
