The car was a milestone for Chrysler. For America as well. February 6, 2000, the #91 Viper GTS-R won the GTO class victory and Overall at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. It marked the first such international win for Dodge and by an American-based production car. In its relative short existence, the Viper has dominated its share of races. This car was driven to victory by Karl Wendlinger, Dominique Dupuy and Olivier Beretta. To commemorate the impressive win, AUTOart replicated the driver's autographs on the specially designed box. An added bonus for us collectors. This diecast dominates the 1:18th scale Viper category. In hand, AUTOart's GTS-R is a jewel. From the perfectly replicated BBS wheels and Michelin racing slicks to the incomparable graphics, this model spells race winner. As with each Viper that AUTOart makes, the detail is tremendous. Inside you see the full complement of computerization, roll cage bars and air hoses. The doors and hood fit infallibly. The now familiar ten-cylinder monster motor resides muscularly beneath the separate hood. As with the 1:1 car, the entire hood piece removes so hold onto it when you turn the model upside down. The stance of the model is ultra-low and mean. The total image is remarkably well executed and a great amount of credit goes to Gateway Global for endeavoring to produce each of the many Vipers in such accurate detail. Another Viper success.
