This particular car was driven by german champion driver Klause Ludwig and England's Steve Soper for Eggenberger Motorsports in the 1987 the World Touring Car Championship season. I'm not sure for which race these two teamed up for as I only found one picture of the Texaco sponsored black RSC driven by Ludwig but with a different co-driver, number, slightly different logo positioning and a blue Ford logo that was raced in Silverstone as part of the '87 Tourist Trophy.

Ludwig finished second in the WTCC by one point after a post season DQ. He went on to win the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (German Touring Car Championship) also in a Ford Sierra.

This is quite a pretty little model especially for those whose tastes run a bit more "goth". The all black finish really makes the orange livery pop. I like the spidery BBS wheels that are shod oddly in treadless generic tires. "Odd" because Aa must have already paid the licensing freight to Pirelli for reproducing their logo. The exteior is quite similar to the rally version (see AA88812) in ground effect and spoiler design and has different fasteners, a single central wiper, smaller side mirrors and gas filler system. The interior sports a single Recaro seat, a different, but better scaled and textured generic restraint system and a proper WTCC configured safety cage. Not needing to lug a spare, the fuel system is exposed and visible under the remarkedly clear glazing of the twin piston supported hatchback.

The engine compartment has the same turbocharged 4cylinder Ford Cosworth engine which due to a different body stiffener configuration attached to the shock towers is more visible on the model. There also other component differences including the turbocharger. I'm not sure where the battery is, but it's been moved out of the engine compartment.

This model has the same fine build quality as the Rally version (AA88812) and I give it the same high marks in the "Bang for the Buck" column.
