This is the model that FM picked for its 2003 Diecast Rally Event. Sold by FM Galleries and select independent retailers, the replica will be limited to 3000 pieces. Most such event cars have been repaints but not so this one. While I do not claim to have any influence whatsoever in FM's choice, I did commission master modeler, Paul Kravchak, to make up an Elkhart Blue/Black stinger 1967 Corvette, using the standard issue FM '67 Stingray. It was beautiful and received many compliments after 'airing' on the Bulletin Board. I specifically wanted Rally wheels on the car and had him use the ones I supplied him from my FM '68 model. FM has nearly duplicated this car with the exception of using the standard issue '67 Vette side exhausts where the Kravchak conversion switched to underbody mount units from the '68 donor car model. The Rally Event car has the Rally wheels in GoodyearŽ Speedway Bluestreak tires and they look terrific. FM's only other Corvette models to use these wheels to date are the 1968 and 1975 cars, though they are deeper dish units than these more narrow wheels. I would like to have seen FM use clear plastic to finally correct the absence of vent glass but it was not done. This is both a Corvette and a limited edition so it will be doubly appealing to collectors. Look for a relatively quick sell-out. The issue price is $135.
