Bburago 1:24 1984 Ferrari GTO diecast car

Towards the end of 1983, some sports car fans felt Maranello was producing mundane hardware. By February 1984, they were silent. The appearance of the 288 GTO was enthusiastically received as the GTO badge had not been seen since the last 250 series. Even more welcome was the big, mid-ship mounted V-8 in its svelte, sexy package. The 2855 cc engine put out 400 hp @ 7000 rpm. Urging it on were twin turbos. 272 total units were finished and immediately sold between 1984 and 1986.

This Bburago is not very expensive, not very detailed. The doors could have been fitted better, the rear tires larger. The engine is done nicely and the steering is easy and true. The real strength of the model is that there are few 288 GTO's, if any, to choose from. The paint is smooth and bright and the elegantly slippery body has been perfectly captured by the Italian manufacturer. (08/29/1999)
