In 1938 Citroen introduced the 15 CV TA (Taction Avant, or front wheel drive) which offered many advancements besides it's novel transaxle. 4 wheel independent torsion bar suspension, unit-body construction, overhead valve engine were just some of the advancements that made this car a performer and virtually drove Citroen into bankruptcy. This model is the "Light 15" version of the 15CV that's liveried in its true element , as the #24 Monte Carlo Rallye car of 1952 which includes the French offset tricolor racing stripe, Monte Carlo IDs and sponsor logos. The body looks very accurate, the gray paint thick enough to easily polish out the slight orange peel. Operating panels are limited to the hood and front doors. All but the front door windows are glazed. The front suicide doors pivot on pin hinges the chrome is nice. I foiled the molded in door and trunk handles, as well as the front fender step plate and rear fender gravel guard. THe spartan interior got a little extra attention with simulated cloth seats and rear deck. THe car sits on spoked steel wheels with dog dish hubcaps shod with those ubiquitous overly wide Continental tires. The engine is not well detailed but looks ok with a bit of paint detailing. The overall look of this diecast is great. It will display well in any 1/24 collection. (01/16/2004) |
