For you Porsche fans looking to add to your collection, here's a really nice diecast kit that builds easily into a real looker. It's the type 996 that replaced the typ 993 Supercup (also a fine model... see the lists&reviews for pictures). This one's a monster with its 370hp 6cyl water-cooled engine, and sports nifty ground effect front spoiler and adjustable aileron on the rear. Bburago has come a long way in their 1/24 line. The castings are much better in finish and the paint... well, this is the first kit where I didn't have to touch the finish. The content is really decent and the plastic parts including the plated pieces are perfectly textured and flash-free. The wheels are well done and they're shod with Pirelli P-Zeros. The decals are by the Italian company Cartograf and are absolutely the best in the world. As a matter of fact, they were almost too easy to apply. You needn't use strong softeners to lay them across compound curves and shut lines. Some patience, a little paint detailing and this guy will not look out of place next to its Mint siblings.
