The C5 Corvette's latest bloodline from Franklin Mint continues as this 50th Anniversary limited edition coupe. Sibling to the 50th Anniversary convertible, it is stunning in the deep and rich Anniversary Red with Shale interior and body color roof panel. Essentially the same model as the 1997 coupe, the car looks clean without the side body molding. The 50th anniversary insignias, front, back and on the front fenders, look crisp against the shiny dark paint. And as with the convertible, the tops of the seats are treated to the special emblem as well. All C5 coupe models feature a rear window that lifts but this one boasts its limited status in the form of a brass-colored plate exclaiming it to be the "2003 Corvette Coupe 50th Anniversary Limited Edition xxxx/9900". Aside from the obvious difference of a painted roof panel, much nicer in my eyes than the smoked top, there is a subtle change behind the Champagne wheels. My convertible model has silver brake calipers and silver rotors. The coupe's brakes vary in that the rotor is still silver but the caliper is black with the car's name written in white. I believe that this is the correct variant. Overall, a lovely car and FM's replication is very well carried out. 4.5 stars. The issue price is $105. (09/05/2003) |
