This is the second re-release of the fabled Creative Masters series of 1:20th scale diecast models. The 1969 Camaro in Marina Blue was the first to reprise the yellow original version, so desperately hard to come by. The GT40, issued initially in October of 1993, was regarded as a sparkling jewel among diecast models of this legendary racer and even among the balance of its CM brethren. The model boasts every bit of the famous detail that stood it apart from most replicas of its time. The graphics are slightly changed to reflect the car that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1968 and 1969. It re-creates Chassis 1075 driven by Jackie Oliver and Jacky Ickx. Each model carries a small photoetched, gold colored plate beneath it, stamped with its limited number. Within the limited edition is an even more limited designation. Creative Masters has dubbed it the Signature Series. Limited to 250 units, the model's code is CM8836. Each such diecast comes with a hard wood base and a metal plaque signed by both drivers, Jackie Oliver and Jacky Ickz. For now the CM line is alive and well but don't wait too long to obtain this one, especially the Signature Series version. Like the original legend, this will be difficult to find once the collectors realize their value. (04/20/2001) |
