As with their 2005 coupe, FM did a fine job on the convertible. The black paint is outstanding and the red interior accents the color pick well. Like the coupe, the interior is well done and features fabric belts. The missing rearview mirror glitchon the former model has been adressed and is in place on this drop top. The hard boot lifts up to reveal the simulated 'down' top and a separate 'up' top is also thoughtfully provided. I wish the little Vette had working sunvisors and even more, internal hinges for the doors but they are not distracting enough to cause any alarm. While the suspension operates the full componentry does not articulate, only the sprung wheel itself. That may be an issue amended in future issues, hopefully. I had a slight issue with the outside mirrors being a tad too over scale on the previous C6 but it turns out that FM got it right, the 1:1 mirrors really are large. But any possible negatives aside, the image is a pleasing one of the new C6. The body shape is faithful to the 1:1 and FM captured the aggressive and edgy styling very well. The limited edition plaque is affixed inside the trunk, small that it is on the rag top car. Overall a very nice model and exceptionally well suited to the Corvette collectors among us. The issue price is $120. (09/08/2005) |
