This repainted reissue was a bold move on Franklin's part. There were ten colors available on the Thunderbird for 1956. Data Plate color code Y, Sunset Coral, was as much a part of this era as the baby bird image itself. But T-Bird had six interior choices and opting out code XG, brown and white, with this exterior choice might have been a risky decision. But do you know what; it works. Few 1:1's possessed this color combo making it a pretty rare view. In fact, one of our members reminds me that Marilyn Monroe's '56 T-Bird was this color combination! And at only 2500 made, the scale model isn't all that plentiful either. You will either like the color combo or not. It is certainly indicative of the mid fifties and for the collector who owns the other FM iterations, it is a nice addition.
The issue price is $120.
