I must say the car holds up really well compared to the Precision Mustang. Ertl did an outstanding job on the details on this one as well. The paint is great and the fit & finish rivals just about anybody else's models. The brass plated parts look very realistic and plastic parts are equally well formed. The hood opens very realistically and reveals a well detailed motor with a turnable crank handle and fan blade. The opening tool box (with tools) and movable gas, oil and water cans add to the detail nicely. The hand brake, clutch & throttle pedals and spark levers all move and so does the searchlight. The soft tires come covered with plastic like the Mustang did. One of the coolest features is the moving windscreen that sits in front of the driver's seat. The exhaust system is diecast and is well done. Supposedly the car has over 225 parts. I'm sure it does, as it is very detailed and relatively hefty for a very short car. You don't have to worry about ill-fitting or poorly designed door hinges - it doesn't have doors. Can't wait to add another Precision 100 Ford to the stable. Both so far have shown exactly how good Ertl can be when it wants to pay attention to details and quality control. In my opinion, both cars in this series have few if any equals in quality in the 1:18th scale at any price. Some of the manufacturers' pricing for this level of detail far and away exceed the value these cars bring to the table. For those of you that collect the early model 1:24th Mint cars, this car will hold up to any of them in detail and execution. I highly recommend the car, no matter what era vehicles you usually collect. (08/27/2001) |
