Ertl 1:18 1966 Pontiac GTO

Ertl 1:18 1966 Pontiac GTO diecast car

In 1966, the car that DeLorean had snuck past GM brass two model years previously, was already being treated to its second body style. The car that was destined to become the legendary touchstone of all muscle cars, in that year became its own model, not a Tempest option package. We refer of course to the Pontiac GTO.

With the Ertl model, you get the more voluptuous form that was created for the 1966 GTO. The front grille now gained a distinctive convergence at the center, a pleasing improvement to complement the vertically stacked headlamps. The rear window on coupes was tunneled between buttress-like sail panels. Inside, most everything was restyled, with a real wood veneer over much of the dash and the instrumentation contained in four pods.

There has never been a more statuesque and perfectly proportioned Pontiac GTO than this year!
